NEWS UPDATE / PRESS RELEASE 28/09/23 The Livery Yard Managers course – now published. Will it be an industry standard? Lingfield Equine Distance Learning is an Approved Training Provider with UK Rural Skills.
This is a wholly new Accredited course aimed at the more professional Livery Yard Owner/Manager – who may equally be what some term a ‘private livery yard’ owner. The new course is preparatory to the course being viewed as an industry marker by those running professionally operated and well run yards who are looking for a ‘professionally accredited course’.
Whether a yard is ‘a private yard’ / privately owned or a more commercial venture is irrelevant both to success/sustainability of the yard and to the horse owner using the service. In a competitive market such as the Livery Yard sector, a professonally produced course awarded with accreditation is a guide for the general public and horse owner and is likely to be a standard by which we can all work together to sustain and improve all Livery Yards.
This is an Accredited course which can be used for professional training. Expenses / fees of £432 can therefore in most circumstances be claimed against tax.
The more professional yards are intent on following best practice welfare and workplace guidelines; they also aim to raise their standards beyond that which is required or expected of the average yard;
Well run sustainable yards already follow best practices and guidelines above and beyond requirements even though the size of their SME (Small to Medium Enterprise) means that, legally they may not be required so to do.
Established yards such as these, generally retain a small employee/employer ratio, maybe only 1 to 1, yet have various policies in place similar to those required by SME’s with a much larger workforce of 50 employees or more. It is these best practices and guidelines which make them sucessful and sustainable and able to charge a viable fee for their services.
The parternship between Lingfield Equine Distance Learning and The Livery List with Yard Owner Hub (top right of the Livery List site) provides the perfect combination for yard managers to: Increase profitability using better business practices Connect with other professionals locally & nationally Gain skills to handle client debtors, equality, safeguarding etc. Upskill and develop new marketing strategies Strengthen your brand : Become the lead yard in your area
The new course accreditation will povide a guide for the general public and a standard by which we can all work together to improve Livery Yards in the UK. Link to current Livery Yard Managers course
