Should we ride horses is a question we hear more and more. However, the equestrian world is an industry bringing in multimillions to our economy in the UK and makes a lot of people a great deal of money – it is unlikely therefore, that you will hear this question ‘should we ride horses’ from the top.
At Lingfield we care about horses. It is because we saw so many horses being poorly treated simply from lack of knowledge that we started these courses back in the early 1990’s. We started with graded Level 1 Equine Care & Managment, for the BHS Horse Owners Certificates. We have developed The Equestrian Academy in your own home. Some of our courses are now Accredited for an Industry Standard.
In recent years we see and hear from more and more people who are considering whether we should actually even ride our horses. Why should they be made (or encouraged) to allow us to rule their lives. The problem with this is that if we all simply stopped riding them many would be put down.
This approach to horses, may well come to be accepted by the human race – but only in time.
Those who prefer not to ride are becoming more widely accepted and their reasons more clearly understood.
Consider the following: Should one person make another subservient for their own pleasure? Should we make horses subservient for our own pleasure?
