| BHS Horse Owner's Certificates |
|
The British Horse Society (BHS) introduced the Horse Owner's Certificates for owners of horses and ponies, to give horse owners a formal means of showing their knowledge and identifying any gaps, in order to benefit the welfare of horses and ponies. Lingfield is able to offer BHS Levels 1-3 as part of our Equine Care & Management / long courses. The certificates are available in four levels from the BHS and each exam tests the theory knowledge of the candidate. The Syllabus for the BHS Horse Owner's Certificates (HOC) are available from http://www.bhs.org.uk, where you will notice on the second page that the syllabus in the early Levels covers less information than is required for the BHS Stages and is therefore not equivalent to the BHS Stages (the Stages are the professional exams/qualifications). It has been agreed by the BHS that we may offer the Horse Owners exams to our distance learning students. Our students in UK and Eire can usually sit these with Lingfield Correspondence in their own home. Instructors and centres in various parts of the UK run weekly series of lecture courses at different times of the year for the BHS Horse Owner's Certificates (HOC's). It is important to note however, that the Lingfield long courses on Equine Care and Management encompass and expand quite considerably on the BHS Horse Owner's Certificates (HOC) syllabi thus providing far more comprehensive courses than is normally offered by other organisations, colleges and individual instructors. Once each Lingfield equine care and management long course has been completed as an individual course, the student is eligible to take the corresponding BHS HOC exam with Lingfield Correspondence. Overseas students should check the Exams page for information on how to find out if they can sit them in their own country. Intermediate Diploma programmes & BHS Levels of the HOCsStudents enrolled on the Intermediate Diploma programmes are able to bypass BHS HOC Level 1. We allow these more experienced students to go straight into BHS Level 2 of the HOC's at the end of their programme. The Lingfield Equine Care and Management Level 2 Long Course expands on a considerable amount of material that is found in our Level 1 Course but which would not be found in other less comprehensive Horse Owner Certificate Level 1 courses. The Lingfield Level 1 Course is therefore a pre-requisite for our Level 2 course. Students who have some experience however, may prefer to enrol on one of our Intermediate Equine Management Diploma programmes which allows students to fast track through the Level 1 course enabling them to more swiftly update and refresh their knowledge before progressing on to Level 2. Level 3.The Lingfield Level 2 long course is a pre-requisite for our Lingfield Level 3 course and is not a stand alone course. All students who sucessfully complete our Level 3 course become eligible to take the BHS Horse Owners Level 3 Exam. Existing holders of BHS Level 2 HOC can take up our Level 3 special offer details here. All students who sucessfully complete one of our courses are eligible for a Lingfield Certificate Enrol on one of our long courses here |
